Our heavenly Father invites His children to seek Him in prayer, knowing they will be heard. Prayer recognizes God as One who is not limited or bound by circumstances. No matter how grim the situation, God can intervene. However, the scriptures make a clear distinction between empty, meaningless prayer and purposeful prayer that gets results. Most Christians are not aware that there are different ways to pray. As a result, they pray and never get answers. In order to make prayer effective, one must apply the right model of prayer to receive guaranteed results.
Prayer of agreement, Matthew 18:19 says, "…if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven."
Prayer of faith (petition prayer), This prayer is between the believer and the heavenly Father. Mark 11:24 says, "…whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."
Prayer of consecration and dedication, This is the only prayer where Jesus prays, "If it is Your will" found in Luke 22:39-42. This kind of prayer covers anything that is not specifically addressed in God’s covenant.
Intercessory prayer (praying on behalf of others), Romans 8:26 There is a general intercession and a biblical intercession that allows God to operate in the earth realm.
Prayer of binding and loosing, Matthew 18:18 This kind of prayer references praying against demonic forces.
Dr. Price explains the proper application of the prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13. This is not a new covenant prayer and thus is not a model prayer for the believer.
The prayer model found in Matthew 6:9-13 is traditionally called the Lord’s Prayer. However, this prayer does not cover healing, nor does it meet the needs of the believer.
Dr. Price discusses 2 Corinthians 4:18 Faith deals with everything that is outside the realm of the five senses.
The fundamental condition for assurance in prayer is that the believer must ask (pray) according to the known will of God (1 John 5:14, 15). |
