Your promised land may be closer than you think

Christians who believe they must ascend to heaven to receive the great benefits they desire while here on earth are losing out on their blessings, as Apostle Frederick K.C. Price explains in his book, The Promised Land.

Apostle Price teaches that those benefits are achievable in this life.

However, there can be no doubt that heaven offers glories that cannot be matched here on earth. Revelation 22:1-2 tells the believer that in heaven there is a pure river of water of life and the tree of life.

Verses 3-5 mention some of heaven’s wonderful benefits:

And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.

They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.

There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

Clearly, there are heavenly aspects that believers will only realize once they arrive in heaven.

It is further understood that in heaven there will be no sickness and disease, no pain or poverty. However, according to Apostle Price, these are benefits we have the right to achieve in this life.

Apostle Price writes:

“There are many people today who subscribe to the idea that the Promised Land is heaven, and that when we leave this life and move out of our physical bodies, we will ascend into the glories of the world to come. . . . However, I am well persuaded from the tenets outlined in God’s Word that the Promised Land is right here on earth – now!”

“The Promised Land is the life in the Spirit. The Promised Land is that which God has provided for His children when He said he would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh in the latter days. I believe we are living in that time – a time in which we can have and should be enjoying the benefits and privileges of a life lived in the realm of God’s promises.”

Apostle Price reminds the reader that “Israel’s Promised Land was not a land they would enter after they died, but it was a land they could enjoy while they walked on the earth.”

“Just as Israel stood on the banks of the Jordan River, ready to enter the land ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ we stand on the threshold of a new time for the believer.”

And just as Israel was admonished to sanctify themselves – that is, set themselves apart to holy service – that is what the Church must do today. That means to give the Lord first place in their lives.

“Do not allow whatever happened in the past to hinder you or stop your spiritual growth,” Apostle Price writes. “Pick yourself up and say, ‘I am going to go on with God, and I am going to accomplish everything that I resolve to do.’”

Apostle Price admonishes readers to make a resolution to continue to develop their spiritual advancement. As they do this, God will lead them into their promised land.

In Joshua 1:2-3, God tells Joshua after Moses’ death to “arise, go over this Jordan [River].

“Every place that the soles of your foot shall tread upon, that I have given unto you, as I said unto Moses.”

The word tread means to walk, and God’s intention was to give them every bit of ground they walked on.

“Sure, there are giants in the land, but God has said He has given us the land. God would not give us the land if he had not given us the corresponding ability to possess it, just as He did for Israel,” Apostle Price writes.

God tells believers in verse 6 to “be thou strong and very courageous.” He further says in verse 7, “Be strong and of good courage . . . for the Lord thy God is with thee.“

Clearly, believers need courage to enter into the promised land that they desire.

In Joshua 1:8, God warns the His children not to let the book of the law – the Word of God – depart from their mouths. Believers need to meditate in and speak the Word daily.

Success in reaching the promised land for believers may seem a great distance away, but in this slim, $7.00 volume Apostle Price indicates that for the diligent it might take only a few spiritual steps to get there.
