What's On Your Mind?
By Dr. Betty Price

The Apostle Paul wrote the book of Philippians, and in it he is telling us to have joy and to rejoice in the Lord always. He is the one who tells us to be anxious for nothing and that the peace of God would be in our hearts through Christ Jesus if we would train ourselves to put our trust in God and not be anxious or upset. (See Philippians 4:6-7.)

If you know anything about Paul’s life, he had gone through a lot of adversity, including being put in jail. In fact, he was in jail when he wrote Philippians. He was telling Christians to rejoice because we know God. Yes, we will have negative things come against us, but the joy of the Lord is our strength and He will take us through whatever we are facing. Christians are expected to control and discipline our minds, and we can do it. We are to stand against all sinful and negative thoughts and will to think only righteous thoughts. You may think, “How in the world can you think righteous thoughts all the time?” You have to will to.
