Beware! The Lies of Satan

Lie No. 1: There Is No Personal Devil. This might be one of the most humongous lies anyone ever told, and it and others are dealt with thoroughly in this book by Apostle Frederick K.C. Price. Many have had the audacity to believe it, as well as the eleven others Apostle Price exposes in this book.

Regarding the first lie, Isaiah 14:12-15 in the Old Testament records that when Satan was known as Lucifer, God said this about him:

“How you are fallen from heaven,

O Lucifer, son of the morning!

You who weakened the nations!

For you have said in your heart:

‘I will ascend into heaven,

I will exalt my throne above the stars of

God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation

On the farthest sides of the north;

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,

I will be like the Most High.”

Despite Satan’s boastful pride, God had another destination for him. God said:

Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,

To the lowest depths of the Pit.”

“I believe that when God created this world initially, Satan (the bright star, Lucifer) was placed in charge of this earth realm, and his job was to bring the praise, worship, and adoration of the creatures of the earth to God,” writes Apostle Price. “Lucifer was a very beautiful angel God had created. However, because of his beauty, his pride got in the way.

“Lucifer thought that since he was so beautiful that the praise and adoration of these creatures should be directed to him.  He said, ‘I will exalt my throne above the throne of God . . . . ‘  He became perverted, and as a result of his actions, not only himself, but the whole earth was plunged into a chaotic condition.”

Aside from Lucifer and Satan, Apostle Price points out other biblical names of our enemy – the dragon, the serpent, the devil, the king of Tyre, the deceiver, the tempter, and the thief. He is also called the god of this age and the adversary.

“Christians need to stop blaming the heavenly Father for their misfortune and go after the ones who are truly guilty – the devil and his demon forces,” Apostle writes.  “You have authority over them. All you have to do is learn to use it – and act!”

Jesus, in Luke 10:19, reminds us of our power over the enemy.

“Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Lie No. 2: Hell Is Only a State of Mind.

Many so-called smart people believe this lie. They try to intellectualize the concept of Satan and hell based on their own reasoning, and they are in great company of other non-believers. Apostle Price cites an article in a prominent Black magazine where the writer had taken a poll of a number of Black religious leaders. The consensus among them was that “hell was a state of mind, not a place.”

“The majority of them [religious leaders] said that hell is right here on earth, and that people make their own heaven or hell here.”

But that is not what God says. If religious leaders don’t believe that hell exists, God surely does. There are plenty of scriptures, Apostle Price shows, where Jesus mentions hell, and he often couples it with the word fire.  In Beware! The Lies of Satan, Apostle Price quotes several, but here we’ll mention only two.

Matthew 18:19:

“And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you.  It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.”

Mark 9:43:

“An if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched.”

On the other hand, Apostle Price points out that “the Bible does not mention an intermediate place, such as purgatory or limbo, from which people can pray you into heaven.” But there are many who preach this.

Lie No. 3: You Do Not Need to Study the Bible If You Go to Church.

This means they think the preacher is the spiritual guide and he (or she) is always right, Apostle Price notes.

“This is a highly dangerous attitude,” he says, “because, in most cases, the preacher may not have read the Bible himself.”

Nuff said.

Here is a listing of nine other lies:

Lie No. 4: If God Did Not Want Me to Sin, I Would Not Feel Like Doing It

Lie No. 5: Homosexuality Is Normal

Lie No. 6: Thank God for Everything, No Matter What

Lie No. 7: God Is Glorified Through Sickness

Lie No. 8: Being Poor Is Being Humble for the Lord

Lie No. 9: Tithing Is Not for the Church Today

Lie No. 10: You Do Not Love Me If You Do Not Worry About Me

Lie No. 11: Speaking with Tongues Is of the Devil

Lie No. 12: God Kills People

As one can see, there are enough lies to go around, at least one for every month. But Apostle Price proves that there is only one truth, and it can be found in the Bible.
