Washington D.C.: City of Museums

Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas are crammed full of museums and monuments. Washington is one of the most visited cities in the world, with an annual tourist count upwards of 20 million.  Besides having the longest museum name, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American Art History and Culture is one of the most important destinations for African Americans tourists, as well as others.  According to the official Washington.org website, it is the only national museum solely dedicated to the documentation of African American life, history and culture.
