We Must Give Attention to the Word
By Dr. Betty Price

I know the story of another young woman who attended our church years ago. The church was fairly new, and we were just getting started moving in the things of the Word. We had a lot of young men who started out with us, and a lot of the single women were trying to pick husbands for themselves. A couple of the women literally got into fussing and fighting over a particular man. These women ended up letting the issues of anger, strife and jealousy get into their hearts. One lady finally admitted that she had gotten into strife with the other woman over this man. She ended up getting a serious disease, and said to me, “When I get healed, I will tell the other women never to get into stress over things like this.” She really wanted to be healed, but she died far too young.

I was listening to a pastor’s wife when I ministered in New York at Crenshaw Christian Center East as she shared about women in the world who go on certain television shows where two or three women openly fight over the same man. It really is disgraceful to see women acting in that kind of way—fighting over a man, when they should be getting together to get rid of him. He is certainly not worth it. I had a lady at our church tell me, “Well, a piece of man is better than no man at all.” She is not thinking like a Christian woman should think. If she continues to think like that, she is definitely headed for a problem, because that means she is willing to settle for any man she can get. There are a number of women who think like that because they put so much credence into having a man. (To Be Continued)
