Guard Your Mind and Your Mouth
By Dr. Betty R. Price

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving thanks.
Ephesians 5:4

In Ephesians 4:29 the Scriptures warn us to only speak those things that edify. Otherwise, don’t say anything. We always have to be aware that wherever we are we represent Christ. Besides that, speaking and dwelling on worldly things keeps your mind thinking about things that can lead to sin.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light [or, “children of God”] (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
