In his third and final volume of the Race, Religion & Racism series, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price juxtaposes Christianity with Islam. The book’s subtitle is Jesus, Christianity & Islam, and it is as good a comparison between the two faiths as you will ever find.

Volume One of the series is subtitled A Bold Encounter with Division in the Church, in which Apostle Price takes the church in America to task for sanctioning slavery.Volume Two titled Perverting the Gospel to Subjugate a People, continues in the same vein, but offers many revelations about Jesus and the issue of race that many Christians have overlooked or chosen to ignore.

This review, however, deals only with Volume Three – Jesus, Christianity & Islam.

In the first chapter, titled The True Message to the Black Man and Woman, Apostle Price points to the disaffection some black Americans have with Christianity and its racist past, which seems to have been the driving force behind the growth of Islam in the U.S., especially as it regards the Nation of Islam.

Many in the Nation of Islam seem to believe that the god of the Christians and the god of Islam are one and the same but “under a different name,” he writes. But Apostle Price suggests logically that if Christians and Muslims worship the same god then the god of both should say the same thing. That doesn’t happen. In fact, they say radically different things.

He reminds the reader that the Bible is “the first source,” having come long before Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, and he notes that “If anything that Muhammad says doesn’t fit the Bible, then we have to reject it.  We know that God is not the author of confusion, and if Jehovah of the Bible is the same person as Allah of Islam, then the Bible and the Koran would have to say the same thing.”

Turns out they don’t say the same thing.

Elijah Muhammad in his book, Message to the Blackman in America, wrote that “the Father is also a man,” which is different, Apostle Price points out, than saying God manifested “himself in the form of a man.”

He reminds readers that Numbers 23:19 says: “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.”

Elijah Muhammad is quoted as saying, “Allah came to us from the Holy City of Mecca, Arabia, in 1930,” apparently using the name Wallace Fard Muhammad and claiming to be the “one that the world has been expecting for the past 2,000 years.”

But the Bible tells us that Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago, so there seems to be some confusion here, Apostle writes.

“Mr. Muhammad further wrote, ‘Islam is our salvation.’”

But Apostle Price counters: “If Mr. Muhammad was writing under inspiration from Allah, and the Bible is written under the inspiration of Jehovah God, then I don’t know how they can be the same person when they are giving us conflicting information.”

Apostle Price quotes Acts 4:12 of the Bible, which says:

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name [i.e. other than Jesus Christ] under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Mr. Muhammad goes on to write, “. . . the greatest hindrance to the truth of our people is the preacher of Christianity.”

But the Bible says in Romans 10:13-15: For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him in whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”   

From a Christian perspective, the holes in Mr. Muhammad’s thinking, are clearly apparent, especially as pointed out in Chapter One of Race, Religion & Racism, Volume 3, which runs a full 49 pages.

Chapter Two, which is titled The Making of the Devil, follows the same pattern. Again, there is a vast lack of agreement between what Christians believe and what the Nation of Islam believes.

While Apostle Price allows that “ . . . there have been some white people through time who have acted like the devil,” such as members of the Ku Klux Klan, Mr. Muhammad, who passed away in 1975, fails in making his case against all whites. The problem is Mr. Muhammad uses biblical scripture to make his case, but the scripture does not agree with him, Apostle Price points out. He cites such scriptures as Second Thessalonians 2:3-12 and Revelation 12:9-17, which he uses to refer to the white race, but there is no such reference is those scriptures.

“It seems to me that if Allah is your God and the Koran is your holy book, you would be quoting from the Koran,” Apostle Price writes.

Whether the subject is the resurrection from the dead, the separation of the races, or whether it is suggested that both God and the devil are human beings . . . . , Christians come down on the opposite side of what Mr. Muhammad taught and believed.

Mr. Muhammad, in Message to the Blackman in America, wrote:  

“I have no alternative than to tell you that there is not any life beyond the grave.  There is no justice in the sweet bye and bye. Immortality is NOW, HERE. We are blessed of God and we must exert every means to protect ourselves.”

His words clearly conflict with many Bible scriptures.

Apostle Price reminds reader that Luke 16 tells the story of two men who existed beyond the grave. One was a rich man who lived well every day and the other was Lazarus, a beggar, who was laid at the rich man’s gate, “desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table.”

In time, both men died, but their stories don’t end there, according to the Bible.  Lazarus, the beggar, was carried into Abraham’s bosom, a place of rest and comfort where the departed souls of the righteous await Judgement Day.

The rich man went into Hades, a place of torment. The Bible records that both men were conscious, the rich man in flames of torment, but Lazarus in comfort. In fact, the scriptures record several instances of those who died but were still conscious in the so-called afterlife.

Mr. Muhammad argues that there is no hope for blacks in Christianity and that “it is a religion organized by the enemies (the white race) of the Black Nation to enslave us to the white race’s rule.”

The third chapter – What does Islam Say? – is crucial for readers, especially those considering leaving Christianity for Islam. The same is true for the fourth chapter – Consumer Reports: Islam and Christianity – and chapter five – Slavery, Islam and Christianity.

Having read those chapters, you are only halfway through this 380-page book.

Chapter Six is titled, Whose Report Will You Believe? That chapter deals with the Honorable Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, who implies that he is the “real” Messiah or the “prophetic Jesus.”

Chapter Seven, titled Closing the Case, continues with the real-versus-historical-Jesus issue, Farrakhan’s implication is that there are two Jesuses.

Chapter Eight, called The Color of Jesus, is the familiar play on the question of whether or not Christianity is the white man’s religion. This chapter further proves that Jesus had black blood in Him.

Chapter Nine is titled Color in the Bible; Chapter Ten is titled The Color of Achievement and Chapter Eleven, the final chapter, is titled The Color of Love.

Whether Christian or Muslim, this book ought to be read more than once and preserved in every library.
