Benefits of Being a Part of the Family
By Dr. Betty R. Price

There was a lady at our church who has been a longtime member. She is well into her senior years now, but for many years she was a wonderful volunteer with our helps ministry and was a blessing to the ministry for a long time. She had been a member for more than twenty-one years when her husband died. After he passed, she had no one close to her to look out for her well-being. Her only child was killed when he was about eight years old, so here she was without a living soul left in her family. She said her husband was so ill that he should have died years ago, but he just held on as long as he could to try and stay here for her so she would not be alone. However, some of our church members pitched in to look out after her. She involved herself so deeply in the church, helping whenever she could, that now she has so many adopted children looking out for her she can’t count them all. This is what being a part of God’s family is all about.

We are called to live for God and to fellowship with Him, and we have to do that. First John 1:3 says:

That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
