How many Christians and others have fallen by the wayside because they have believed a lie? The number is certainly too high to count.
For example, too many have been seduced by Lie No 1, which states: There Is No Personal Devil.
Apostle Frederick K.C. Price counters this and 11 other lies in his book, Beware! The Lies of Satan.
“In society, we have made a cartoon character out of the devil, complete with a red suit, long tail, pitchfork, and horns,” Apostle Price writes. “When we see him characterized in the movies or on television, he is made out to be some sort of joke, a wimp who cannot hold his own against human ingenuity.”
Apostle Price warns that Satan is not a joke, and to believe such a deception can be a fatal error.
God sees Satan as malicious and calculatingly evil. The Bible calls him a thief, a robber, a murderer and a deceiver who walks around as a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.
The consequence of not knowing the truth, Apostle Price points out, is found in Hosea 4:6, where God says: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Lie No. 2 states that Hell Is Only a State of Mind, and some reason that a loving God would not send people to a fiery hell.
But Apostle Price concludes that such a line of thinking misses the point:
“God does not and will not send anyone other than the devil and his angels to hell. That is who hell was made for. Hell was never intended for mankind. According to the Bible, it is God’s will that no man should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
“However, God will let you go to hell if that is your choice. God has been doing everything He can for the last 2,000 years to keep you out of hell. If you go there, it is because you chose to go by rejecting God’s offer of clemency and redemption through Jesus Christ.”
Jesus uses the term hell eleven out of the twelve times it is mentioned in the Bible, according to Apostle Price, and in the majority of those instances the word is associated with fire.
Lie No. 7 claims God Is Glorified Through Sickness. But Apostle Price indicates that it should be clear to anyone who is familiar with the Bible that Jesus spent much of His time on earth healing people. If God was making people sick, then Jesus would be working against His Father by making them well.
In Luke 13:10-13, the Bible records Jesus healing a woman who had been crippled by an infirmity for 18 years:
Now He [Jesus] was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.
But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.”
And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God.
In John 9:1-7, Jesus healed a man who was born blind.
In fact, Apostle Price shows in John 11: 39-44 that Jesus even went further in the case of Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead.
In Acts: 10:38, the Apostle Peter effectively sums up Jesus’ three-and-a-half-year ministry in the earth realm when he says:
“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
