Part one of the teaching by Dr. Frederick K. Price Jr.

So, the God kind of faith . . . .  And there are some that have a problem with that statement, the idea of God having faith or associating faith with God because God is not a man like we are.  We’re humans and we need the measure of faith.  We need to walk by it and live by it, but what I’m actually going to be talking about is God’s M.O., God’s mode of operation.  And that mode of operation is something we’re supposed to follow and replicate in the earth realm.

Genesis 1:26 reads: Then God said, let us make man in our image, and after our likeness:

Now He goes on to say let them have dominion, let them subdue all of His creation.  But what I want to focus on is this first part, that we are made in the image of God, and we are like God.  We are not God, but we are like God.

Not only are we like God, but we look like God.  We are made in His image, according to His likeness. Now if that is the case, then we need to find out what God is.

John 4:23 will tell us this:  Jesus encounters this Samaritan woman.  They engage in a conversation about true worship.  This Samaritan woman talks about how her kin, her nation, her people, would worship God at Mount Gerazim, and how the Jews would worship at Jerusalem.  But Jesus told her that true worship is not limited to a location.  And so here in the twenty-third verse. It reads:

But the hour is coming and now is when the true worshipers will worship the father in spirit and truth, for the father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is spirit.

I’m reading from the New King James Version.  I like the Traditional version better.  It reads: God is a spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

I like God is a spirit better than God is spirit because there are other kinds of spirits.  God’s entire heavenly hierarchy consists of spirits – angels, malakim, cherubim, seraphim, ophanim.  If you’re familiar with Ezekiel 1 and you read about the wheels that are covered with eyes and are on fire.  They are alive and they are known as the ophanim so there are a number of celestial creatures, and they are all spirits. Demons are also spirits, perverted spirits.

So I like the specifics of God is a spirit and man being made in the image of God, which then tells me that I,  and you, too, must be a spirit.  But now let’s look at the whole of us.  Paul talks about in First Thessalonians, chapter 5, verse 23, and he says:

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming or our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul identifies man as tri-part, just like the godhead – Father, Word (or Son) and Spirit.  And the complete makeup of a man happens to be spirit, soul and body.  We are spirits; we have souls, and we live in bodies.

You do not need a body to be you, but you need a body to live here.  God created the earth for humans, and He created humans to be housed in flesh.  But when I pass away, unless the Lord appears first, the Bibles says to be absent from the body is to present with the Lord.  The spirit and soul leave the body.  The body goes back to the earth.  The spirit and soul return to the Father.

So once again I am spirit.  I have a soul and I live in a body.  I don’t need a body to be me, but I do need a body to live here, and God created us for here.  He created us to operate in dominion and authority here.  Shall I continue?

Genesis chapter 1 tells us that God said Let there be light.  What showed up?  Light.  So when God speaks, He gets results.  Now if you and I are made in the image of God, then I wonder if we also, when we speak, should be seeing results?  As a matter of fact, what makes us so unique from all other spirits is that we are authoritative speaking spirits.

Why do I say authoritative?  Because angels can speak, but angels are commanded to speak on behalf of . . . .   They are messengers.   When an angel says “I will,” you need to walk away, because they are embodying the spirit of Lucifer.  Lucifer said “I will” five times, and we know what kind of trouble that got him in.

But humans are a little bit different.  Notice that we are the only creatures created in the image of God.  What does that say about you?  I think of Luke, chapter 10.  You all remember the seventy.  The seventy returned to Jesus, and what did they say?

They said, Lord, even the demons . . . .   Now before I finish that verse what does that tell you about all they were doing?  Well Jesus gave the seventy the same authority – exousia – that He gave the twelve.  So the seventy went out healing the sick, opening blind eyes, opening deaf ears and they said, Lord, not only that, even the demons are . . . .

Now notice what they did not say, even the demons are subject to You.  No, they said even the demons are subject to us in Your name.  And that’s what makes us distinct from other spirits.  Angels aren’t made in the image of God.  Demons are a perversion of the image of God, but mankind is made in the image of God.  We look like Him, we are like Him, and we should act like Him.

Let’s go to John 1:1. It says:

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

If the Word is a Him, who is John referring to?  Well, in verse 14 we know who it is because the Word became flesh.  This Greek word is logos.  So logos is the Christ or Messiah – Christ or Messiah in eternity past.  He was there in the beginning.  The scripture says not only was He with God but He was God, and all things were made through Him.  This word made means come into existence.  So let me read verse 3 this way:

All things came into existence through Him and without Him nothing came into existence that came into existence.  Nothing was made without the Logos, or without the Word of God.  But wait a minute! There is another scripture we read in Hebrews 11 about the Word of God that I find very interesting.  Let’s s look at Hebrews 11:3.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

This reads somewhat like what I just read in John 1.  John 1:3 says all thing were made through Him, the Logos, the Word.  All things came into existence by way of the Logos, the Word.  So it sounds to me like the writer of Hebrews is in sync with John when he says the worlds were framed by the Word of God.  Except here’s where it gets interesting. This Greek word for Word is a word you all are probably familiar with – rhema.

So what I’m seeing is that by way of the Logos, things came into existence, but by way of the rhema those words that came into existence were framed.  And the word framed means to appoint or arrange.  In other words, there must be rhema placed on what the Logos brings forth.

The Logos brought it all into existence.  The rhema framed it, arranged it, ordered it and appointed it.  Now Revelation 19:13 says His name Jesus is called the Word of God.  That means the scriptures are the Logos and the Logos is Him.  So whatever the Word says has already been brought into existence.  It is our job to put rhema on the Word.

The word rhema means utterance.  That means you and I have to say something.  We have to speak something.  For the longest, we made the assumption that we are to speak things into existence. No, no, no!  Everything is already in existence.  We speak order to what in existence.  We speak appointment to it.  We speak arrangement to it.

I’m creating things in the sense that I’m a conduit by which it manifests in this realm, but it already exists.  Everything that you need in this life that pertains to life and godliness already exists in the realm you can’t see.  Did not the latter part of the verse say that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.  The visible is made by the invisible, and if I want the invisible to be visible I’ve got to put some rhema on it.

To be continued.
