This month in CarePortal we were able to help a mother and son with much-needed supplies as they moved into their new apartment. We provided them with a few necessary items purchased at a local big box store (see below) and deliver them to their dwelling in a timely manner. Among the items were pots, pans, dishes, utensils, a TV, a microwave oven, a blender, and fans to help them cool off from the summer heat. We prayed with the young man and helped him with job resources.
It was an amazing opportunity to demonstrate the love of God in a way that is practical and did not impose on the individual. We were reminded of what James 2:15-16 says: If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed, and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? (NKJV). We are continually amazed at the doors that are open to demonstrate the love of God right in our own backyard.
