Supernatural Wonders: Dominions

We usually speak of dominion as the assertion of authority by whatever entity is in charge. Where the celestial hierarchy is concerned, Scripture speaks of dominions, in the plural. The Greek word used in Colossians 1:16 is kuriotes, meaning "mastery . . . rulers"; it is also translated "government" in the King James Version of the Bible. Webster’s suggests the ideas of dominance, supreme authority, and sovereignty, but also a “supposed high order of angels.” Dominions are heavenly creatures who do what their names suggests . . . they dominate!
