CCC Member in the Spotlight

Jerri White, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been a member of Crenshaw Christian Center for more than 30 years. She is an active member of the Wedding Committee, Special Activities Committee, Racing Interest Group, and Intercessory Prayer. Ms. White served as the lighting technician for the play "Hope for the Holidays" written by Minister Mark Peay. She was formerly a Singles In Christ Board Member and served as President and Co-Leader of the Women In Business Interest Group.

As an actress, Jerri has performed in Off Broadway plays in New York and many local plays in the Los Angeles area. She began her academic, writing, acting and comedy career in Philadelphia. Her zany character ‘The Old Lady’ brings laughter to many audiences, including the Wisdom From Above Luncheon hosted by Dr. Betty Price.

Some years ago Jerri entered several local pageants in the Philadelphia area and won many awards. She went on to represent the state of Pennsylvania in the Miss Black America Pageant held in Gary, Indiana. In 1988 Jerri founded the Miss Growing In Grace Pageant for young ladies and the Growing In Valor ‘Encounter’ for young men, ages 3-30, a personality and performing arts program to glorify the Lord with the gifts and talents He gave them. The program includes workshops such as: etiquette (table setting, manners, how to properly make up a bed, etc.), health and fitness, college preparation, managing finances, poise (sitting and standing properly), public speaking and more. Ms. White has also been a talk show host for teens.

As a writer, Jerri will soon release her second book entitled "Baby Jerri Goes to the Eye Doctor," a cute story about Baby Jerri waking up one morning and not being able to see very well. Her mother decides it’s time for Baby Jerri’s first eye appointment. Her first book is entitled "Baby Jerri Helps U Count."

In the works is "Baby Jerri Live," a one woman stage play; a coloring book which will feature the "Take Baby Jerri with U" Contest; the "Baby Jerri Stuff" product line; and more Baby Jerri books. Who knew Jerri’s only baby picture would be a face that makes you smile?!
