Thankful
It doesn’t matter what race you are, I’m sure you are familiar with the term, racism. It has been bantered about so much, its true meaning has gotten lost. For Senior Saints, the Webster’s Dictionary definition of racism is:

"A belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race."

For the younger generations, Wikipedia defines racism as:

"The belief in the superiority of one race over another. It may also mean prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against other people because they are of a different race or ethnicity."

They’re very similar, so you would think that everyone should have a basic knowledge and understanding of what racism really is. But it appears these days that the word racism has been overused to the point that society is creating its own definition of racism such as: if you don’t agree with me, you’re racist; or, if one doesn’t like a certain feature about someone else, you call them a racist. At this rate, I can hear kids telling their parents they’re racist for making them do their homework. It’s getting ridiculous.

So, who’s assignment in the church world was it to deal with this issue? None other than my dad, Apostle Frederick K. C. Price. In approximately 2007, the then Dr. Price experienced firsthand the racist ideology within the church world - the born-again, Spirit-filled, bible-toting, tongue-talking church world. He was then led by the Lord to expose this hypocrisy and find out its roots in an effort at uprooting this paradigm.
LOVE GIFT
Dr. Price studied for many years before launching his epic series, Race, Religion and Racism. It was poignant, hard hitting, factual and to the point. You either loved it or you hated it, but you could not say my dad didn’t do his homework. He explained that his research led to making the determination that Sunday morning was the most segregated day of the week.

As a result, people of all races were able to look into the mirror and see themselves as they might not like to see. Some people left the ministry, others came in droves to both see and hear this impactful message. Colleges even showed an interest in the series for their libraries.

One quote that sticks out in my mind is the explanation that racism is not just about racial and ethnic prejudice, it’s about power over a different class of people. It’s impossible for the downtrodden and powerless to be racists. They have no power over anyone.

I believe if you haven’t watched the series in its entirety, now’s the time. Help expose what the true meaning of racism is and help us kill it within the Body of Christ. How are we to progress in God’s Word if we harbor racist ill will towards another child of God? You see, some 22 years later, unfortunately – racism and racist ideology is alive and well.

This is a very special time of year—Black History Month—when we look back on those who have gone before us and the courage and sacrifice they demonstrated in the face of extremely difficult circumstances. Their struggle to realize the promises of freedom and equality that had been made but not kept required an enormous amount of patience; it didn’t happen overnight. This is an important reminder to us of the vital role patience plays in our lives.

There are times when we fail to receive what Our Heavenly Father has for us simply because we give up before His timing brings it to us. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not have seen the work God has done in my life over the years if I had not been willing to believe Him in patience before I saw the blessings.
