Thankful
Dear Friend,

Greetings in the matchless name of Jesus!

Oh, how we love the Lord and His promises! We love His blessings, grace, and mercy towards us. But how do we rate our "love walk" toward others? Messiah commanded us to love God AND people! (Refer to Matthew 22:34-40.)

Every day we have an opportunity to be offended by others. Colossians 3:13, speaks of forgiveness: "bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do." Unforgiveness not repented of harbors BITTERNESS. Hebrews 12:15 gravely warns us to not let bitterness take root and cause trouble, which will ultimately defile us!

When we let bitterness into our hearts, it becomes a breeding ground for sarcasm, rudeness, spitefulness, and ill will, and it too often results in distrusting others and feeling justified in our bad behavior. That is why we must memorize scripture so we can speak life (the Word of God) to thoughts of bitterness and resentment that come from our unregenerated soul and flesh.

Bitterness is toxic and it can lead to addiction and rage. The negativity from bitterness can make us physically ill and lead us to an early grave because it is like poison. Acts 8:23 says that Simon the Sorcerer was poisoned by bitterness: “For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”

The real us, our spirit man, is powerful, loving, and sober-minded (2 Timothy 1:7). We should feel convicted in our spirits when we are tempted to think evil thoughts that are contrary to the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-26).

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 reminds us to cast down our imaginations by taking our thoughts captive and making them obedient to Christ! If the Bible tells us to do so, then we are capable of doing just that.

We must make it our goal to quickly repent when thoughts of bitterness try to enter our minds. We need to speak out loud and say, "NO, devil! You are a liar! I have the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind, in Jesus’ Name! That is my brother [or sister], and I am not going to resent them. As a matter of fact, I’m going to pray for them and bless them right now since you brought them to my remembrance!"
