The Crenshaw Christian Center campus sits on the edge of the Vermont Knolls neighborhood in South LA. But the street-facing facade of the church gives no indication of the depth of this 32-acre campus or its unique history as the original site of Pepperdine University.

Lush, tranquil, and manicured are a few ways to describe the serene campus, while the wide-stretching FaithDome sits on only a fraction of this expansive lot. The church also maintains several original Art Deco-style buildings that still capture the ambience of the former mid-century urban college campus. Today, however, these buildings house administrative offices for Crenshaw Christian Center and its K-12 Christian school with just over 300 students.

But how did Crenshaw Christian Center make this former college campus the home of the FaithDome? And what does the future hold in store for Crenshaw Christian Center in South LA?

To answer these questions, we first need to understand the story behind the founder of Crenshaw Christian Center, Frederick K.C. Price.
